Original Item: Only One Available. This is a nice WWI production Model 1913 Cavalry Saber. Unlike most we have seen, it was not made by Springfield Armory, but instead by private contractor Landers, Frary & Clark (L.F. & C.) of New Britain, CT., who also made the 1917 and Mark 1 pattern "Trench" knuckle knives. This example is marked on the ricasso with:
U.S.
(Eagle)
and on the reverse with:
L.F. & C.
(Flaming Bomb)
1918
Blade condition is very good, with a wonderful patina, and only a few nicks on the edge though. Minor pitting toward the tip, and the usual light staining from age.
Canvas on the scabbard is intact with staining from age and was repainted green at one point. The heavy steel guard is in great shape overall. One of the more iconic models of U.S. Sabers, ready for further research and display!
