Original U.S. WWI Model 1913 Cavalry Saber Patton Sword by L.F. & C. with Scabbard - Dated 1918

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a nice service-worn WWI production Model 1913 Cavalry Saber. Unlike most we have seen, it was not made by Springfield Armory, but instead by private contractor Landers, Frary & Clark (L.F. & C.) of New Britain, CT., who also made the 1917 and Mark 1 pattern "Trench" knuckle knives. This example is marked on the ricasso with:

Blade condition is good, with a very heavy amount of oxidation especially towards the tip. There are many areas of brightness but the oxidation is very heavy where it is present. The hilt and grip show heavy wear with oxidation on the guard. This example saw very heavy use. The large blade buffer is retained, however.
Canvas on the scabbard is very heavily worn with tearing and with staining from age. The throat is heavily dented with cracking in the body as shown.
A very worn example of one of the more iconic models of U.S. Sabers, ready for further research and display!
