Original U.S. WWI M1905 Springfield 16 inch Rifle Bayonet by Springfield Armory in Excellent Condition - dated 1910

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is definitely the best condition U.S. M1905 bayonet that we have ever seen. It is dated 1910, being made prior to WWI for the M1903 Springfield rifle. It is still in the original issued configuration, with the bright 16 inch blade, blued handle and cross guard, and wooden grip scales. Many of these were reissued for use in WW2, and were parkerized and even cut down, but this one was not, and is simply in extraordinary condition. The blade is so shiny it almost looks plated, but the small amounts of staining shows that it is not.

The blade ricasso is marked with SA for the Springfield Armory in Springfield Mass, the primary center for the manufacture of United States military firearms from 1777 until its closing in 1968. Below this is the Ordnance flaming bomb and date of manufacture 1910. The other side of the ricasso is marked with U.S. above serial number 438280.  The blade is in great shape with a nice edge, and little wear. The original factory machining and polish marks can still be seen. The handle and cross guard are a nice aged blue, and the original wooden grip scales are in excellent condition, with a good deal of the factory "ribbed" surface intact.

A very nice clean 16” WWI M1905 Springfield rifle bayonet by SA, the best we've ever had! Ready to display or fit on your Springfield 1903 Rifle.
