Original U.S. WWI Gorgeous 2nd Division 15th Field Artillery Custom-Made Hook Rug - 21 x 27”

Item Description

Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. Now this is a gorgeous way to commemorate the unit you served with - this soldier had a hook-rug custom made with the insignia for the 2nd Battalion, 15th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Division. It is in fantastic condition, meaning it was likely never used as a rug, thankfully! It is a very large example, measuring 21x27”. The “Indian Head” on this example is just stunning, and looks just like examples on uniforms.

The 15th Field Artillery Regiment was organized in Syracuse, New York, on 1 June 1917. Assignment to the 2nd Infantry Division (2nd ID) followed on 21 September 1917, and earned them the unofficial nickname as the Indianheads. The coat of arms of the 15th FA contains a French 75mm howitzer with the Indianhead of the 2nd ID patch incised in the wheel. The 15th FA participated in six major campaigns during World War I including Aisne, Aisne-Marne, St. Mihiel, Meuse-Argonne, and Defensive Sectors.

The rug is in fantastic condition with the stitching on the back in great shape. This could be displayed from both sides as the insignia looks great both ways. It would look best framed and would become the centerpiece of any 2nd Division collection!

This is a phenomenal piece, the first of its kind we have offered. Comes ready for further research and display.
