Original U.S. WWI Field Gear Lot Including Named 79th Division M1917 Helmet & Eagle Snap Mills Cartridge Belt Rig with Holster & Canteen

Item Description

Original Items. Only One Lot Available. This is a great set of U.S. WWI field gear that will help complete a U.S. Doughboy mannequin, including a complete M1917 Helmet and an Eagle Snap Mills ammunition cartridge belt rig.

The field gear lot includes:

-M1917 Doughboy Steel Helmet with full liner and chinstrap. The helmet is named on the chinstrap to Major G. A. Wildrick Gen. Staff, George A. Wildrick who served with the 79th Division General Staff during the war. This is a fantastic piece of 79th Division history!
-M1910 Eagle Snap Mills Ammunition Belt with integrated saber hook. The hook is in great shape and the pocket snaps all work. One of the belt ends is bent but otherwise a great piece.
-Colt M1892 / Smith & Wesson M1902 Revolver Holster by Rock Island Arsenal dated 1908. This example has a very scarce unit marking on the belt loop reading: F 11 Art. for Battery F, 11th Field Artillery. The 11th Field Artillery Regiment was part of the 6th Division which saw combat in the Meuse-Argonne Offensive, seeing its first action on the night of 26 October at Rémonville and participating in the largest artillery barrage of the war on 1 November. Scarce holster. The stitching near the bottom is undone and there is crazing across the leather.
-M1910 Canteen & Cover dated 1918. Cover is marked L.C.C. & Co 3-18 for a manufacture date of March 1918. Canteen is marked L.F. & C. 1918. The set is in rough service-worn condition.

This is a tremendous set of field gear with a phenomenal named helmet that requires a lot more research! This set comes ready for further research and display.
