Original U.S. WWI Excellent Model 1917 Bolo Knife by Springfield Armory with Rare Locking Lug & Scabbard by Bauer Bros. - Dated 1917

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice example of a Model 1917 C.T. Bolo knife, manufactured by the famous Springfield Armory. The main difference in makers is the inclusion of the catch mechanism on the scabbard and grip. The blade ricasso on this example is clearly marked:

The blade retains a great deal of its lovely blackened color, with signs of the usual service wear, while the ricasso areas still retain almost all the original finish. This example definitely has been sharpened several times but there is no change in appearance but there are a few tiny nicks to the blade. The main edge of many 1917s, such as this one, is mostly ground from the factory from one side, while the other side was left flat.
The leather tip of the canvas scabbard has a lovely aged chestnut brown color, and it still has the original manufacturer marking clearly visible:

Scabbard is in good condition and shows only minor signs of service wear. The wood grips are in very good condition, showing just a bit of wear and rounding, but no major chips or cracks, and both screws are still right.
Overall in very good condition, and a great chance to add to any military knife collection.
