Original Items. Only One Lot Available. This is a nice lot of WWI Era Marine Corps Good Conduct Medals & Ribbons. The Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal was established on 20 July 1896. The medal was originally a ribbon and medal suspended from a clasp bearing the words "U.S. Marine Corps". The clasp was eliminated after 1935 and the medal has remained unchanged in appearance since that time. From its inception in 1896, the name of the recipient was engraved by hand on the reverse side of the medal until stamping the name on the medal began during World War II (numbered on the rim) and was done completely by 1951.
The items included:
- WWI Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal numbered along the rim No.69669. The ribbon and brooch of this example are in good condition.
- WWI Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal numbered along the rim No.54272. The ribbon of this example is tearing and is very close to coming off. It would be best held in a case that would hold it in place.
- WWII Era Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal Ribbon.
- WWII Era Marine Corps 2-place ribbon bar with West Indies Campaign ribbon and Marine Corps Good Conduct ribbon. This bar is missing the two backings.
A very nice lot of Marine Corps medals and ribbons, ready for further research and display.
