Original U.S. WWI Army Officer Child Uniform - Dated 1918

Item Description

Original Item: One-of-a-kind. Throughout the late 19th and 20th centuries it was not an uncommon practice for soldiers, especially officers during WWI and WWII on all sides of the conflict to outfit his son in a scaled down replica of their own uniform.

This custom provides insight into the fervor of the times; a child dressed in a uniform as seen here, gives a glimpse of the time of World War I, the patriotism and the loss of a father traveling to war.

This is a high quality period authentic tailor made U.S. Army officer uniform custom made for a boy of about 8 - 10 years of age. The tunic is constructed of the correct khaki wool with authentic correct US eagle buttons. The inside of the jacket bears original tailor label for William C. Rowland of Rowland Uniforms in Philadelphia, PA. Original name tag reads Kenneth Leetel and is dated 1/3/18. Jacket measures 20.5" long, 14" armpit to armpit, 13" shoulder to shoulder with 19" sleeves.

Also included is a wonderful made pair of jodhpurs. Pants measure; 12" waist, 28.5" lenght, top to crotch 9".

All in all this is a wonderful hard to find collector’s piece for the little boy in us all!
