Original Items: One-of-a-kind grouping. This grouping was the belongings of WWI pilot JAMES L HALES, serial number 2438621. Hales enlisted on December 14th, 1917 and was from Philadelphia, PA.
This wonderful grouping consist of the following:
Leather flight helmet with bulls eye top.
Pilot’s flying Log Book with entries from 1918-1931.
2 x Scrapbooks with hundreds of news clippings, letters, photos, drawings (and more) of American and European wartime service as well as some post war memories.
Over 30 personal correspondence items in letters to and from his family and friends.
Inflatable life preserver.
