Item Description
Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is a tremendous WWI fold-out photo album which has a very interesting “accordion”design, where the book unfolds like an accordion, with photos on both sides. The album was kept by a member of an Aero Squadron, with a great deal of photographs of planes, with some photos of crashes as well.
There are 38 photographs total, including some photos of French towns, men in formation, photo of officers, a photo of a French Captain Charles in his “Vieux Charles” aircraft, a pilot looking upwards with his Aerial Lewis gun, a British wreck, and some other wrecks as well. One of my favorite photos is a great shot of a plane on a runway in the middle of the night. You NEVER see photographs from WWI taken at night, and this is a tremendous example. There’s also a great aerial photograph taken on June 26th, 1918.
There are some great photos here, one of the best WWI aviation albums we’ve seen. The album measures 5½ x 8” and is in great shape, and there are about 5 or 6 photos which have come off of their pages.
A great album, ready for further research and display!
