Original Item. Only One Available. Here’s a great example of a uniform to a wounded private in the 80th Division, of the American Expeditionary Forces, which saw heavy combat in France during the final months of World War I.
This jacket bears a patch for the 80th Division on the left shoulder, with hand-stitched waves, as well as a red honorable discharge chevron and two overseas chevrons. There is a wound chevron on the right sleeve, and the collar has US & Infantry Company H collar discs. That makes this soldier a private in Company H of the 317th, 318th, 319th, or 320th Infantry Regiment. The overseas cap has a US collar disc.
All four infantry regiments of the 80th Division saw combat in the Artois Defensive Sector, Somme Offensive, and Meuse-Argonne Offensives, with the 320th seeing combat in the St. Mihiel Offensive from September 13-14th, 1918. Most wounds of the division came during Meuse-Argonne, which is where this soldier was most likely wounded. This is a great uniform to a combat-torn unit of the AEF, ready for display.
