Original U.S. WWI 1903 Springfield Rifle Carry Case by Progressive Marked 107th Field Artillery - dated 1918

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. Designed for the U.S. 1903 Springfield rifle, this heavy cotton canvas case with top flap will work well with almost any rifle up to 46" inches in length. This high quality canvas case also has an genuine adjustable carry shoulder strap with steel fittings. The inside of the top flap is maker marked and dated:

PROGRESSIVE
DEC. S.K. 1918.

Overall this case is in excellent condition, especially considering the age and a century of storage. Just a bit of fraying on the edges and staining keeping it from being "unissued."

This case also has a lovely stencil on the reinforced section of the case: 107 / F.A. / (Crossed Cannons) / PA. / 7, indicting use by the 107th Field Artillery Regiment, from the Pennsylvania National Guard. The 1st Field Artillery Regiment of the Pennsylvania National Guard was reorganized and redesignated 11 October 1917 as the 107th Field Artillery and assigned to the 28th Division. Demobilized 21 May 1919 at Camp Dix, New Jersey.

Springfield cases in such excellent condition are very difficult to find on the market today, especially ones that are definitely WWI issued and marked to a known regiment.
