Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very rare totally original WWI Model 1916 holster for the .45 auto. This holster is maker-marked SEARS, and is dated 1917. This holster was made in 1917 and inspected by J.N.B., and the front flap is stamped CO. B. 106 M.P. over 116. This denotes issue to Company B of the 106th Military Police, 31st Division. The 116 is a roster number, which may identify it to Private Earl T. Young of Rutland, Illinois, who is numbered 116 on the going-over trip for the company.
This M1916 holster is in fair service-used condition, with a now faded russet brown color to the leather, with some moderate wear and rubbing of the leather finish. All stitches still intact, with all brass parts still present, though there is some verdigris buildup around the rivets and hanger. his example retains the leg-tie-down which is braided and inserted through the belt loop. Just perfect for a WWI issue 1911 .45 pistol!
The combination of the SEARS maker marking, 1917 date, J.N.B. inspection initials, CO. B. 106 M.P. unit stamp, individual number 116, original brass hardware, intact stitching, and surviving braided leg tie-down makes this a notably well-documented WWI M1916 holster. The possible association of number 116 with Private Earl T. Young of Rutland, Illinois offers an especially worthwhile avenue for further archival research, while the confirmed Company B, 106th Military Police marking establishes a strong direct connection to the 31st Division during the First World War.
