Original U.S. Vietnam War Theatre Made Personalized Fighting Knife - Dated 1968

Original Item: One-of-a-kind. This unique fighting knife began life an M7 bayonet for use with a the U.S. M16 rifle. However, all that remains which can be recognized from an M7 is the knuckle guard or cross piece. The grip is a cast alloy similar to the knife grips produced by E.W. Stone during WWII for personnel who requested a handle on their knife that would not slip, twist, mildew, or rot and had knuckles and an efficient skull crusher. Made from scrap aluminum that was alloyed and cast onto US issue blades and others to make edged weapons.
Bright steel blade measures 6.5" long overall 13" long and come complete with a custom made web scabbard. The spine of the grip is recessed and struck into the alloy is: VIETNAM 1968.
Overall a very interesting unique custom made U.S. fighting knife dating from the early years of the Vietnam War.
