Original Items. One-of-a-Kind Set. This is a very interesting theater-made baseball cap and flight suit worn by a Captain Charlie in VMO-1, Marine Observation Squadron 1, during the Cold War. The set is accompanied by a photograph of Charlie wearing this exact ball cap and very likely the same flight suit, but we can not make out the name on his jacket in the photo.
The ball cap is orange wool with VMO-1 in white to the front and a set of Captain’s bars attached below it, in the same spot as in the photo. The back of the cap has embroidered Marine pilot wings over the name Charlie. The sweatband inside has a faint maker’s stamp.
The flight jacket is also orange and retains the tag:

There are no names anywhere in the suit but the design is exact to the one worn in the photograph. Sadly we do not know the location of the jacket in the photo! The photo measures 8 ⅛ x 10”.
