Original U.S. Vietnam War Era USAF MC-1 Airborne Paratrooper / Pilot Survival Knife with Cord Cutter by Camillus

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice service used example of a Vietnam War Issue USAF MC-1 Paratrooper and Pilot survival knife, with correct orange plastic "jigged bone" handles. These differ from the WWII and Korean war issue knives in that they have a second blade, specifically designed to cut cords. This would be used to help free the owner from tangled parachute rigging, or even their harness if they were a helicopter pilot.

The USAF MC-1 Knife was originally adopted in 1958, and is officially designated as the "MC-1 SURVIVAL KNIFE". It originally was designed with black plastic handles, however these were replaced with orange to make the knife easier to see in low light conditions. They were manufactured by three different companies: Schrade / Walden, Camillus, and Logan / Smyth.

This used example is in fully functional condition and still has the bale ring intact. This would have a cord wrapped around it to ensure it wasn't dropped when being used to cut through parachute rigging. Condition is very good and shows signs of use but nothing major. The blades still retain their original shape, though the cord cutter definitely has been sharpened.

It is marked on the base of the blade with:

CAMILLUS
NEW YORK
USA

These knives were usually carried in the breast pocket, for easy access when needed. This example is fully functional with a functional lock. Ready to display!
