Original Item: Only One Set Available. This is a very good condition Vietnam War era U.S. Army P-158 mine detector set, manufactured by Polan Industries, Inc.. This is one of several mine detection sets designed and manufactured by this company, and there are numerous period photographs showing the P-158 in use in Vietnam. In general the soldier with the mine detector would have a companion armed with an M16 to protect them during sweeping operations.
This set looks to be complete, though we have no idea whether it is functional or not. We have looked at other examples, and all parts look to be accounted for. We checked inside the electronics unit, and it has all four of the electronics modules, so the 4 in the case are spares in case any of those have an error. Please review the photos for what is included.
It still has all of the data plates intact on the components and the case, with the central electronics unit identifying the set:
