Original U.S. Vietnam War Era TA-312/PT Field Telephones in Carry Cases - Set of Two

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Set of Two available. This is an original set of two Vietnam War Era U.S. TA-312/PT Field Telephone Sets, complete in their original CY-1277B/PT carry cases. This equipment has not been tested by IMA but we were told that they are functional. However, we will not guarantee functionality. These were sold as surplus, and do not appear to have been used much at all.

Both Still have their original Data plates, which read:

TELEPHONE SET TA-312/PT
SERIAL NO. ##### B
BARRETT INTERCOMP CORPORATION
CONTRACT NO. DAABO5-70-C-4104
U.S

In this set, one of the units is serial number 11392, and the other 11451, which are very close, so these were most likely issued to the same unit. The contract number indicates 1970, so these were made for the Vietnam war era, and probably continued in service into the 1980s.

As stated before, these really are in nice shape. All the knobs and buttons are intact and seem to work, and the side cranks turn smoothly. The cases are in nice used condition, though one is missing the zipper pull and carry strap.

The analog, 2-wire, battery operated TA-312/PT replaced and will interoperate with the World War II and Korean War EE-8 field phones. The rugged and reliable TA-312 was used from the 1950s through the 1980s before being superceded by the TA-838 analog field phone. TA-312's continue in use throughout the U.S. forces as well as many allied countries. Many call these the "Cadillac of Field Phones." These were designed to have a dry operating range of over 20 miles when paired with U.S. G.I. Telephone Cable.
