Item Description
Original Items: Only One Set of 2 Available. This is a very unique, yet important set of recognition boards used during the 1960s. Boards such as these would have been posted on display around various military installations, generally in live fire training areas, but also living areas and around the mess halls. Ordnance recognition displays are still seen today on military installations and are crucial in aiding service men and women on identifying different types of ordnance they will come across.
Both boards measure approximately 44” x 31 ½” and still retain much of their original paint. The boards are made of a thin plastic and unfortunately have become brittle in the past 60 or so years. The boards show the various types of big gun ammunition as well as the smaller types of ordnance such as grenades, rockets, mortars and anti aircraft ammunition.
We have not seen any other examples like these before!
Comes more than ready for further research and display.
