Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is genuine U.S. Government issue 24 Hours clock, made by the Chelsea Clock Co. of Boston, Mass. We usually see these in a smaller form factory with black faces, however this larger version with a white face was apparently used in Minuteman Missile control centers during the Vietnam War Era.
Fully wound these should tick for 8 days. It is mounted in a dust proof and moisture proof black bakelite case with a 8 1/2" dial. It features a an hour, minute and second hand. The time is set by moving the hands forward with your finger. You should not move them backward as that will damage the movement.
The face reads as follows:
CHELSEA CLOCK CO.
BOSTON
U.S. GOVERNMENT
The rear of the bakelite case is also marked with the serial number and manufacturer information:
854 034
CHELSEA CLOCK CO.
BOSTON
The serial number is also most likely marked on the movement, however to see that we would need to disassemble the entire clock. Condition is very nice, and the clock looks to be fully functional, though we do not know if it keeps good time. The clock comes with the Chelsea marked winding key, which is often lost. The only real condition issue is that at some point the bakelite housing on the lid was cracked, and later repaired with glue, as shown.
This would make a perfect clock for your desk at work or at home!
NOTE: This clock is sold as is, and we cannot guarantee that it will run when received. It is being sold for collectors purposes only.
