  • Original Item. Only One Available. This is an interesting Vietnam War era shirt in the famous “Beo Gam” camouflage pattern. Beo Gam (meaning "leopard" in Vietnamese) is a multi-colored camouflage pattern utilized by U.S. Special Forces and indigenous units during the early Vietnam War. It features dark green, olive green, and distinct mauve or purple spots on a khaki background.

The shirt is not marked anywhere and has a five-button front closure with two waist pockets. It is in good unworn condition and will make for a great display.

Spotted Duck Hunter uniforms were procured by CISO for Special Forces and CIDG strike teams early in the Vietnam War. Loosely based on the frog camouflage worn by Marines in the Pacific during WWII, the duck hunter pattern consisted of brown and green shapes on a beige background. This colour combination provided effective camouflage in the Mekong Delta area, but was of less use in the dense jungle environments further north. Consequently Tiger Stripe uniforms became increasingly popular with Special Forcers as the war progressed. Local tailors, however, continued to produce shirts, trousers and hats in the spotted camouflage, which the Vietnamese called Beo-Gam (leopard), and as a result several variations of the pattern exist.

    Ready to display.
