Original Item. Only One Available. This is an outstanding Vietnam War photo album with 54 photographs taken at or around Camp Eagle, also known as LZ El Paso/Tombstone, a major U.S. Army base in Central Vietnam near Huế, serving as a vital hub for the 101st Airborne Division. The album depicts an unnamed soldier (his name may be on the back of some of the photos) shirtless and using a great deal of iconic Vietnam War era equipment. A sign nearby shows that he is serving with E Company, 506th Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, the same company that during WWII inspired “Band of Brothers”.
Some of the photos include him in an Airborne Beret with a Lemon grenade and machete with fighting knife in his mouth, him firing mortars, holding an M16 in one hand and a Playboy in the other, a helicopter, some 101st locations, him with friends, a barrel labeled “Co E Trash”, him firing an M60 machine gun “Ma Deuce”, some landscape photos, a couple of dogs, and an enormous snake that someone had cut up.
The album was made in Japan by KND, and the front cover depicts a map of Vietnam with a homemade shelter under the text MEMORY OF SOUTH VIET-NAM. The album measures 10 x 11 ½” and there is also a Northwest Orient plane ticket sleeve inside, man what a blast from the past!
