Original U.S. Vietnam Female Nurse’s Poplin Jungle Fatigue Shirt with 93rd Evacuation Hospital, 44th Medical Brigade Incountry-Made Insignia

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. An outstanding example of a uniform worn by a Female Captain who was a member of the 93rd Evacuation Hospital, 44th Medical Brigade. The jacket is a standard 1967 Dated Poplin (NOT ripstop poplin) Jacket, which features a mix of U.S. made and locally produced “Incountry” made insignia which was commonly sourced from Vietnamese sewing shops. The collar insignia is U.S. Made, along with 93rd Evac Hospital Pocket Patch. Vietnamese Incountry-made insignia includes the name tape, US Army tape, and 44th Medical Brigade SSI (Shoulder Sleeve Insignia), which is a beautiful example with the red portion being constructed of velvet with a hand embroidered star in the center.

Vietnam Jungle Fatigues with original applied insignia are becoming incredibly hard to find at present, especially those for a Nurse! This particular jacket has the tell tale signs of having had the insignia applied for a long time, such as the bunching of material on the reverse of the patches inside the jacket. This undoubtedly was a Jacket which saw service in Vietnam then returned home with a veteran!

It should be noted that non-ripstop female jungle fatigues were only made during the Vietnam War, and almost all were used up during the conflict. Immediately following the war, ripstop poplin jungle uniforms were manufactured.

Jacket is size marked in the collar “14”.
