Original Item: One of Kind. This is a beautifully made small 7 shot .22 short revolver Circa 1885, made for self protection, maybe for a Lady's purse. It is marked VICTORIA on the top of the barrel, and also is marked with serial number 925 on the bottom of the grips, with 25 on the cylinder axis pin. It also is marked on the left barrel flat with PAT. APR. 6. 1875.
This is one of many revolvers made in the late 19th Century patterned after the Smith & Wesson No. 1 Revolver, firing rimfire cartridges and having spur triggers. These were so prolific that the major makers such as Smith & Wesson, Colt, and Remington virtually abandoned the pocket pistol market.
This lovely revolver has lovely black checkered Gutta Percha grips with a Naval “Fouled Anchor” on the top, and is nickel plated overall and fully engraved. The revolver cycles well but needs slight adjustment with the hammer holding in full cock position.
Clearly a great early Gambler's or self defense revolver. Fully cleaned and ready to display!
