  • Original Items: One-of-a-kind set. This is a collection of Marine Corps items from the 1927 Occupation of Nicaragua and the 1927 to 1941 China assignment. We do not know if all these items belonged to the same Marine but they were all attained together as a single lot from a private collection. Included in this grouping are the flowing items:

    - China Marine Silver bracelet with dragon and EGA in high relief and engraved:
    HARVEY W. TENNANT
    PEKING CHINA
    1929-1932

    - RARE Occupation of Nicaragua Marine Police Badge with pin back, which reads Republica De Nicaragua Policia Urbana along with badge #40.

    - China Marine Silver bracelet with bullet band. Center reads USMC with EGA and Shanghai China.

    - Marine Corps expert badges.

    - Marine Corps Dragon patch.

    - 4 framed photos of marines in uniform. One photo reads Shanghai 12-11-1938

Overall a very interesting China / Banana Wars Marine collection.

The term China Marines, originally referred to the United States Marines, of the 4th Marine Regiment, who were stationed in Shanghai, China from 1927 to 1941 to protect American citizens and property in the Shanghai International Settlement, during the Chinese Revolution and the Second Sino-Japanese War. Those Marines stationed at the embassy in Peking and the consulate in Tientsin referred to themselves as North China Marines.
