  • Original Item: Only One Available. This is a nicely woven experimental / trials Spanish American War 100 round ammo belt, for the new M1892 Krag-Jørgensen Service Rifle. This example has ten leather flaps meant to hold the cartridges in place, with one of them being stamped ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL. The design is essentially an adaptation of the earlier belt for the .45-70 government cartridges used by the Springfield Trapdoor rifle. Instead of having 50 large bullet loops, the belt has 50 double loops, each holding two rounds of ammunition.

This example retains all ten leather flaps, but one of the ten has broken off and is only held on by the knob. From the few of these we have seen, almost all of the flaps are always missing, so to find one with nine still attached is a real rarity.

The adjoiner clips are both marked PAT. MILLS & ORNDORFF and have a series of patent dates ranging from 1867-1894. All brass has an aged patina. All woven cartridge loops are intact and in very good shape.

A very scarce example, ready for further research and display!
