Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is a very interesting belt buckle that appears to be from the Spanish-American War period. It is based on the Civil War era Model 1851 Regulation belt buckle, but is silver-washed with a pair of enamel flags attached to the front. This was likely custom-made by an officer who wanted to carry some of his ancestor’s experiences with him.
The buckle measures roughly 2 x 3” and has a custom catch and loop bar. One of the two flags attached to the front is missing some of its enamel as shown. The other flag appears a bit loose. This is a very unique piece, and we could not find any comparable examples.
