Original U.S. Spanish American War Model 1881 Anson Mills Krag Ammunition with Inert Rounds

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is an excellent Mills Web Ammunition belt for the Krag rifle with a New York belt buckle used by NY troops during the Spanish American War and the Philippine Insurrection.

The reverse of the plate is stamped:
ANSON MILLS, PAT. FEB 1, 1881
T. C. ORNDORFF SOLE MANF.
WORCESTER MASS
U.S.A.
Belt is a khaki web material and has the single row for cartridges, will hold fifty 30/40 Krag cartridges. We include 50 inert rounds.

The belt has the brass keepers as well as two brass adjustment bars. These are both stamped:

The web belt is soft and pliable and in fine condition with no rips, holes or fraying. Belt is set for 34 inches but can be adjusted for another 14 inches for a total of 48 inches. N. Y. plate is illustrated in the book "American Military Plates" by Michael O'Donnell and J. Duncan on page 570 plate #960 "WAIST BELT PLATE MILLS 1887 PATTERN N. Y. ENLISTED ca: 1890-1905". THE N. Y. PLATE IS ALSO PICTURED ON PAGE 563 ON A BUGLER ON FIELD DUTY WEARING A MILLS CARTRIDGE BELT.
