Original Item: Only One Available. This is a nicely woven Spanish American War 50 round ammo belt, for the .45-70 government cartridges used by the Springfield Trapdoor rifle.
The belt does not have a "buckle", but instead a large split loop, which is used to fasten the two ends of the belt together. The adjoiner clips are both marked PAT. MILLS & ORNDORFF and have a series of patent dates ranging from 1867-1894. All brass has a lovely aged patina. All woven cartridge loops are mostly intact and in very good shape.
The belt still retains the heavy brass keepers on either side, and overall is in good service used condition. A few of the loops are torn and or missing.
Comes ready for display.
