Original Items. Only One Lot Available. This is a nice group of Spanish-American War-era U.S. Army insignia and buttons, comprising seven pieces total and including infantry, artillery, Federal eagle, officer, and Kentucky National Guard examples. The lot shows a range of late-19th-century Army and militia insignia types, with expected wear and minor damage from age and use.
The lot of insignia includes:
- U.S. Army Infantry cap badge in gilt, crossed flintlock muskets, four retaining loops with lead solder.
- U.S. Army Field Artillery cap badge, crossed cannons, two prongs but one is heavily bent.
- Small U.S. Army “French Horn” infantry cap badge, two prongs but they are dented.
- Two worn U.S. Federal Eagle buttons, Span-Am era. Marked for Waterbury Conn.
- One Officer’s Federal Eagle button, marked for D. Evans & Co of Attleboro Mass.
- Span-Am Era Kentucky National Guard button with “united we stand divided we fall” quote. Not maker-marked.
This lot is particularly interesting for the combination of Regular Army branch insignia, Federal eagle buttons, an officer’s button, and a Kentucky National Guard state button, giving it strong representative value for a collection focused on the Spanish-American War and late-19th-century American military dress.
