Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nicely woven Spanish American War 45 round ammo belt, for the new M1892 Krag-Jørgensen Service Rifle. The design is essentially an adaptation of the earlier belt for the .45-70 government cartridges used by the Springfield Trapdoor rifle.
The belt does not have a "buckle", but instead a large split loop, which is used to fasten the two ends of the belt together. All brass has a lovely aged patina. All woven cartridge loops are intact and in very good shape. The brass adjoiner clips are marked:
PAT. MILLS & ORNDORFF
AUG 26: 67 MAR. 19:89
JULY 31:77 OCT. 31:93
DEC 28:80 SEPT. 11:94
One adjoiner clip is also stamped with 10 next to H, likely the unit of the soldier who wore it, Company H, 10th Infantry.
The belt still retains the heavy brass keepers on either side, and overall is in good slightly service used condition. A very beautiful Krag Ammo belt, ready to display with your Krag-Jørgensen rifle!
