Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is a large Cow Horn Powder Flask, measuring 16 inches in overall length, one of the longest we’ve ever offered. While possibly intended for a musket or other small arms, this size would sometimes be used for cannon priming. The end of the horn is fitted with a thick rounded wooden bottom with a small metal loop attached. Attached to this and the throat of the horn is what we believe to be a period-original leather carrying strap, something we never seen retained on these. There does appear to have been a large break at the center which was tied together.The horn retains its original wooden plug which interestingly has some carved threading of its own to allow for easier removal.A charming and fresh to the Collecting Market very old Cow horn powder horn, ready to display!
