Original Item. Only One Available. This is a gorgeous example of an Early American powder horn with its original carved wooden plug and a small remnant of the original leather strap. The horn measures roughly 9½” long.
It has lovely brass tack construction with 8 tacks holding the wooden bottom in place, with one tack missing. The bit of retained leather is a lovely touch and really adds some great character to the horn.
The original plug is retained by a small string that was likely added later. The horn is filled with what appears to be chilled shot, which was added later. It gives it a great period feel, however.
A phenomenal horn from Early America, a true one-looker. Ready for further research and display.
