Item Description
Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is the most unique and downright exemplary canteen of the American Revolutionary War period we have ever offered. This Redware Ring canteen is featured on Page 32 of “Battle Weapons of the American Revolution” by George C. Neumann. The canteen comes with an official George C. Neumann Collection tag stating where it is found in the book.
This is an open center ceramic ring canteen having four side shoulder cord double-loops and an upper spout. This heavy piece was certainly meant to be carried with a two-strap system as shown by the double-loops. There is some material loss to the canteen as shown. There is a small white tag on the bottom denoting where in the book it is shown.
The canteen measures 10” in diameter and has four sets of two integral loops for attachment of carrying straps.
A one-of-a-kind piece with fantastic provenance to one of the most well-known writers of the American Revolutionary War. Comes ready to display.
