Original Items. Very Few Lots Available. We are offering a few sets of these very rare U.S. propaganda leaflets dropped on German soldiers during the later stages of World War II. Each lot contains two leaflets, one depicting countless grave crosses on the front and spilled boxes of Iron Crosses, and the other depicting AH standing over a field of bodies with a wall of text on the reverse.
The first leaflet measures 5 x 8 ⅜” and depicts an endless field of cross grave markers on one side. The other side has a photo of several boxes of 1939 Iron Cross, 2nd Classes spilled out onto the ground, symbolizing how little each life matters to the German leadership. It has no words, but conveys a powerful message.
The second leaflet measures 5 x 8 ¼” and depicts the German leader, AH standing over a field of dead German soldiers with the caption: “I feel so fresh! Spring is coming!” The back of the leaflet has a message “To the soldiers of the German Wehrmacht!” The message condemns the German regime for manipulating the people into war and quotes from Pope Pius XII and Roosevelt to contrast Axis tyranny with Allied calls for peace: “Deutscher Soldat! Du kämpfst für den Mann und das System, das dir den Weg versperren zu EINEM GERECHTEN FRIEDEN!” (“German soldier! You are fighting for the man and the system that is blocking your path to A JUST PEACE!”). The leaflet emphasizes moral and religious appeals, seeking to persuade German troops that continuing the war is both futile and unjust.
You will receive one pair of leaflets as shown. These make for a great display in any WWII collection! Get a set before they’re gone!
