Original U.S. Pre-WWI M1892 Bayonet and Steel Scabbard for Springfield Krag-Jørgensen Rifles - dated 1902

Regular price $325.00

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is not something that we have only ever had very few of. This is a very good condition U.S. M1892 bayonet dated 1902, made for the Springfield Model 1892–99 Krag-Jørgensen rifles, some of which were still in use during WWI. It is fitted with its original all steel scabbard with a swivel belt loop on the back. These are very rarely seen on today's market, especially with the scabbard included and fully intact.

The "Krag" was the U.S. Army's first repeating rifle, and the M1892 bayonet was based on the Swiss M1889 bayonet, made for use on the 7.5 mm. M1889 Schmidt-Rubin straight-pull bolt-action rifle.

This example is in very good condition, with the original bright finish and a great blade that was not sharpened . The post 1899 pattern "ribbed" grips still have a good deal of the original texture, and are held in place by the correct dome headed rivets, which were not ground smooth. It is marked 1902 on one side, and US on the other, and has a fully functional bayonet catch. We have not had one better than this.

The scabbard is equally exceptional, with almost all of the original blued finish, and a fully functional swivel. The scabbard body is straight, with no dents or dings. There area few areas of light rust on the scabbard, but nothing major, especially considering the age.

Ready to display or add to your Springfield Krag rifle! They don't get much better than this!
