  • Original Item: Only One Available. These are something that we have only ever had very few of. It is an excellent condition U.S. M1892 bayonet dated 1899, made for the Springfield Model 1892–99 Krag-Jørgensen rifles, some of which were still in use during WWI. It is fitted with its original all steel scabbard with a swivel belt loop on the back. These are very rarely seen on today's market, especially with the scabbard included and fully intact.

The "Krag" was the U.S. Army's first repeating rifle, and the M1892 bayonet was based on the Swiss M1889 bayonet, made for use on the 7.5 mm. M1889 Schmidt-Rubin straight-pull bolt-action rifle.

This example is in very good condition, with the bright finish still in great shape on the blade. There is however a bit of a peppered patina on the hilt, showing that it did get a bit oxidized, which was cleaned away. The blade shows use, and has been sharpened, so this is a blade that did see use in service. The 1892 pattern "smooth" grips are in good condition with just a few dents and chips, and are held in place by the correct "domed" rivets, as this was the year they stopped grinding them smooth. Both scales are in very good condition, with only light wear and a great color. The blade is marked 1899 on one side, and US on the other, and has a fully functional bayonet catch.

The scabbard is in good condition, however most of the original blued finish has been worn from the scabbard body due to cleaning and oxidation. It now displays a peppered bright steel patina. It still has a fully functional swivel, however the tensioning washer is worn, so it swings freely. The scabbard body is straight, though there are some small dents on the front side.

Straight out of an old collection, ready to display or add to your Springfield Krag rifle!
