Original U.S. Pre-WWI M1892 Bayonet and Scabbard for Springfield Krag-Jørgensen Rifles - dated 1899

Original Item: Only One Available. These are something that we have only ever had very few of. It is an excellent condition U.S. M1892 bayonet dated 1899, made for the Springfield Model 1892–99 Krag-Jørgensen rifles, some of which were still in use during WWI. It is fitted with its original all steel scabbard with a swivel belt loop on the back. These are very rarely seen on today's market, especially with the scabbard included and fully intact.
The "Krag" was the U.S. Army's first repeating rifle, and the M1892 bayonet was based on the Swiss M1889 bayonet, made for use on the 7.5 mm. M1889 Schmidt-Rubin straight-pull bolt-action rifle.
This example is in very good condition, with the bright finish still in great shape, showing much of the original factory machine marks, and minimal staining. The blade still has the original factory "blunt" grind, and there is just a bit runner wear and scattered light staining. The 1899 pattern "ribbed" grips are in good condition and are held in place by the correct "ground smooth" rivets, which after 1899 were left domed. The right grip scale is cracked, and looks to have possibly been crushed from one side, as one of the rivets is now slightly loose. The blade is marked 1899 on one side, and US on the other, and has a fully functional bayonet catch.
The scabbard is in very good cosmetic condition, with the original blued finish almost completely retained! There is just a bit of rust peppering in some areas. It still has a fully functional swivel, which has an intact tensioning washer that keeps the scabbard from swinging freely. The scabbard body is straight, and the body is free from major dents, as shown.
