  • Original Item: Only One Available. These sets were produced by Frankford Arsenal in Philadelphia, and were implemented during the period when units reloaded their own gallery practice cartridges, and after use the fired cartridges were returned to the supply system to make dummy cartridges. When this occurred it was the procedure to immediately de-cap an clean the fired cases upon receipt to prevent deterioration from the corrosive powder. They were not intended to be part of any reloading type of operation.

These sets were primarily intended for the new .30-06 cartridges, however the primer ejecting spindle could be adapted for some similar cartridges, which include:

    • Caliber .30, Model 1906, rifle cartridge case (.30-06)
    • Caliber .30, Model of 1898, rifle cartridge case (.30-40 Krag)
    • Caliber .38 revolver cartridge case (.38 Long Colt)
    • Caliber .45, Model of 1911 pistol cartridge case (.45ACP)
    • Caliber .45 revolver cartridge case (.45 Long Colt)

As best we can tell, it contains the following items:

    • 1 primer ejecting cool (without spindle)
    • 1 primer ejecting spindle with cap
    • 4 primer ejecting pins (one is in the spindle with three in the case)
    • 1 wiping rod
    • 1 wiping brush
    • 1 funnel

The kit comes in its original 9 1/2" x 7 1/2" x 3 1/2" wooden chest, which is in great condition and still locks and closes as intended. It comes complete with a paper describing a basic set. These were made in several different versions, and this one only has one cap for the primer spindle, with no inlet in the case for another.

The overall condition of the kit is really nice it shows signs of faithful use but doesn't have any extensive damage or wear. This is a lovely condition kit that comes ready for display or even for use!
