Original Item. Only One Available. This is a very scarce pre-WWI U.S. Army recruiting poster, one in a series created by the artist Michael P. Whelan around 1910. The image is reminiscent of the Indian Wars period in the American West as a mounted cavalry officer prepares to sound his bugle. The bugler is a member of Troop C, 1st Cavalry, while the 1st Sergeant is in Company A. They both wear M1902 Uniforms with service stripes, medals, and aiguillettes.
The frame measures 28 ⅝ x 39”, and is in good shape with an intact and strong hanging wire. The poster itself has some damage including heavy darkening, some minor tearing and nicks in some spots, wear and loss in others.
This is one of the more difficult Pre-WWI Army posters to find, and has only become more desirable in recent years. Don’t miss out on this example.
