Original Item. Only One Available. This is a lovely example of a Pre-Civil War Militia waist belt with panel plate for an Enlisted man. The buckle has light wear overall but is still in good shape with a lovely patina, though one side of the belt loop bar is broken off, so the buckle is now very fragile. The belt it is connected to is extremely fragile as well, likely dating to the early 1850s. We are not going to attempt to remove the buckle due to the extreme wear.
The belt itself has heavy tearing with the belt hook inserted into a hole that is now a tear, but we are not going to remove it as to not risk further damage. This model of belt buckle was used during the Civil War period by both Union and Confederate forces. When laid out closed, the belt measures 16 ⅝”.
An extremely scarce belt and buckle, fragile but ready to display.
