Original Item. Only One Available. This is an excellent original 14 x 36-inch insert poster for the 1948 Warner Bros. World War II aviation film Fighter Squadron, complete with a period National Screen Service Corp. stamp and the identification number 48/1460.

Fighter Squadron was released by Warner Bros. Pictures in 1948 and was directed by Raoul Walsh, produced and written by Seton I. Miller, and starred Edmond O’Brien, Robert Stack, and John Rodney. The film dramatized the experiences of American fighter pilots operating from England during the European air war and was produced in Technicolor.

The film was particularly notable for its aviation content. Warner Bros. worked with the United States Air Force during production, and the picture incorporated actual wartime combat footage. Contemporary production records also note that P-47 Thunderbolts were obtained for filming to represent the American fighter units depicted in the movie.

This poster measures approximately 14 x 36 inches, the standard dimensions of the theatrical insert poster format widely used by American movie theaters during the period. Surviving examples of the Fighter Squadron insert are documented in this same 14 x 36-inch format.

At the bottom is a stamp for the N.S.S.C., National Screen Service Corp., the organization responsible for the distribution of large quantities of theatrical advertising material to American cinemas during the mid-20th century.

The poster has horizontal fold creases at three spots and has catalog tag on the back. This has likely gone through several museums / collections in the years since the film came out.

The combination of the 1948 Warner Bros. aviation subject, desirable 14 x 36-inch insert format, National Screen Service stamp, 48/1460 identification number, and surviving collection tag makes this an appealing piece of post-WWII American aviation and motion-picture memorabilia. The fold lines are the principal condition issue, while the strong period graphics and documented theatrical distribution markings remain its defining features.
