Original Items. One-of-a-Kind Set. This is an outstanding instant collection of Philippine Insurrection / Spanish-American War uniform & accoutrement pieces, perfect for a mannequin display. Included is a tropical coat, sun helmet, cartridge belt, canteen, and haversack.
This outstanding set includes:
- Model 1898 Tropical Coat - This is an outstanding cotton summer khaki Model 1898/1899 field blouse. It retains the standing collar of the M1898 but has the 2nd row of pockets. This example has Sergeants chevrons on both sleeves in white with black piping denoting Infantry. No markings we can find. The coat retains all buttons, all of which are back-marked C. Kenyon Co. of New York. There is heavy staining across.
- American Model 1880 Sun Helmet produced under July 26, 1890 Contract by Ridabock & Co. of New York. Very difficult to find in any condition. Underside shows heavy moth damage to green covering. Sweatband is retained with string. Heavy wear but spacing cork is retained. The name Roy is written twice inside. Heavy staining across. Chinstrap is absent.
- 1894 100-Round .30-40 Krag Double Ammunition Belt - Marked in green ink on interior 100 LOOPS / 30 CALIBER. No maker mark, all loops are retained and in good shape. Fantastic example.
- M1878 Haversack with a carrying strap. Faint marking for ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL on interior. Heavy staining across. Heavy wear and material loss to leather carrying strap. Strap is also marked ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL.
- Named M1878 Canteen with a carrying strap marked Co. G / U.S. 15 / MINN. denoting Company G, 15th Minnesota Volunteer Infantry. Cork is retained and in good shape, carrying strap is faintly marked ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL. Heavy staining and denting, great example with great markings and name on back.
