  • Original Item: Only One Available. Built using an imported percussion "Trade" Lock mechanism marked LONDON / WARRANTED, this sporting gun is really quite nice to look at. It appears to be smooth bored despite its heavy octagonal barrel, however it shows significant use. The rifling may have worn away over the years, or it was possibly smooth bored to make it into a training gun, possibly for a child or an early teenager.

The Barrel length is 26 1/2 inches, with an overall length of 41 inches, and the stock is a wonderful striped maple. Complete with brass butt plate, trigger guard and ramrod pipes, it also retains an all wood ram rod. Built no doubt by a New England Gunsmith or in another North Eastern State using a British Trade Percussion lock.

The rifle has definitely seen significant use, indicated by the bore condition, as well as the amount of powder burn. There is a lot of wear to the stock, which is also in a somewhat delicate condition around the barrel. The tang of the barrel is also no longer securely attached, so it does move around a bit. This style of rifle was very streamlined, with the unfortunately result being that they are not nearly as durable as a military issue musket or rifle.

Cleaned and ready to display after many years of storage!
