  • Original Item. Only One Available. This is an absolutely stunning example of a scarce 1840s “Knight’s Head” Pommel Militia Officer’s sword with a gorgeous ribbed bone grip and Knight’s head pommel. This example comes complete with its original brass-mounted leather scabbard.

The blade is 28” long without any etching or fuller, showing light oxidation and runner wear. The overall length is 33⅞”. The pommel is in the form of a high-crested visored and plumed Greco-Roman helmet. There is no handguard and the ribbed bone grip is in good shape with the expected staining of age.

The included brass-mounted leather scabbard is in good condition for its age with much of the stitching still retained. The only issue is the end chape being a bit loose, so please be careful when sheathing and unsheathing the sword, as it is a little hard to use for the last few inches.

This is a truly stunning example of a scarce officer’s sword from a niche era in American history. Comes ready for further research and display.

    Dimensions:
    Blade length: 28”
    Overall length: 33⅞”
    Crossguard: 4”
    Scabbard length: 28¾”
