  • Original Item. Only One Available. Here we have a very lovely, original Eagle-Headed U.S. Officer's Dirk / Short Sword from the Early 19th century, the style matching those issued during the 1830s. It features a lovely aged and carved bone grip as well as a highlighted etched blade, which must have been quite spectacular when originally issued.

The grip is mostly tight to the blade, with the pommel a small bit loose. The bone handguard is in great shape without any cracks. The double quillion crossguard is a small bit loose but has a lovely patina. The 20⅛” blade displays beautifully, but the etching is heavily worn, featuring the American Eagle & E Pluribus Unum motto with floral motifs.

There is some scattered light staining and surface oxidation on the blade, as well as near the tip.

This is a lovely, rather difficult sword to find from the Mexican American War era. Comes more than ready for further research and display!

    Approximate Dimensions:
    Blade Length: 20⅛”
    Blade Style: Single Edged Dirk
    Overall length: 25¼“
