Original U.S. Korean War Era US Army Fort Hood “TANKERS” Green Sports Jacket by Wilson - Size 42

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. Now this is a lovely US Army sports jacket! PT is a regular when it comes to Military life and competition is always an occurrence, so why not make it organized? This jacket originated from Fort Hood and was worn by a member of a Tanker unit, but as to which sport we are unsure. We believe the sport to possibly have been baseball, as its appearance looks very similar to baseball jackets of the time.

We do not know if this was just a local base team or if it was a part of the much larger International Military Sports Council or Conseil International du Sport Militaire (CISM), an international sports association, established in 1948 and headquartered in Brussels. Regardless of organization, this is a wonderful item.

Fort Hood is a United States Army post located near Killeen, Texas. Named after Confederate General John Bell Hood, it is located halfway between Austin and Waco, about 60 mi (97 km) from each, within the U.S. state of Texas. The post is the headquarters of III Armored Corps and First Army Division West and is home to the 1st Cavalry Division and 3rd Cavalry Regiment, among others.

The jacket is in good condition but it does show wear and tear as well as some staining, which is expected with any piece of sports equipment. There are no dates or names present, only the Wilson Sports Equipment tag and the size 42 tag. All buttons are present and functional.

A lovely example ready for further research and display.
