Original U.S. Korean War Era US Air Force United Nations Blood Chit Set With Souvenir Flags - (3) Items

Item Description

Original Items: Only One Lot of 3 Available. This is a fantastic trio of items all most likely belonging to the same Airman during the Korean War. The blood chit is the best feature of this set due to the fact it appears to be handmade, probably locally done while in country.
Blood chits were used by U.S. aviators as a way of communicating with non-English speaking people. Made of leather, cotton, silk, or rayon, they served as a safe-conduct pass for a downed aviator in need of help from local people. This blood chit used during the Korean War is fabric dyed with the U.S. flag, Korean and the UN flag. It measures approximately 12” x 11 ½” and is offered in good condition.

Also included with the blood chit are two souvenir type flags and banners. The flag was most likely purchased before heading back to the United States and reads as RETURNED FROM HELL SEOUL KOREA. The yellow banner is the typical souvenir GIs would purchase while on liberty in Seoul.
