  • Original Item: Only One Available. This is a wonderful example of an RCT marked M1-C Airborne helmet, made, used and worn during the Korean War into the Vietnam War. The sides of the shell contains a large blue square with a white square marking on the lower right side. We have encountered this type of marking in the past, and we have not been able to identify it. It came to us as being for the 187th Airborne, but it does not follow their half circle markings as used on their helmets. This is a perfect M1-C candidate for research.

This is an excellent example of a circa early 1950s era produced Airborne Helmet. It is an excellent I M1 Swivel-Bale Helmet with liner by Firestone in lovely condition. The M1 helmet was repainted and used during the Korean War era and possibly after. The liner is WWII era with Korean War era 1953 dated webbing.

The helmet is in absolutely stunning condition, with the original liner complete with original sweatband and is unfortunately without a nape strap. The exterior of the helmet appears to have undergone a period depot repaint, most likely when the “blue and white square” markings were added.

This liner is a very nice example of a genuine WWII "High Pressure" helmet liner by Firestone. The liner was then reissued for use during the Korean war. The leather chinstrap is unfortunately torn and disconnected but both pieces are still present.

The liner is painted white and is the correct “high pressure” WWII issue and stamped with an F logo over 26 for the FIRESTONE TIRE & RUBBER COMPANY Manufactured in Akron, Ohio this “high pressure” manufactured M-1 helmet liner is identified by an embossed “F” in the crown. Firestone Tire and Rubber Company started M-1 helmet liner delivery to the US Army in September 1942. They produced approximately 7,500,000 M-1 helmet liners and discontinued production around August 17 1945 when the war ended. The liner outer paint is nice, and looks to have repainted at least once.

This true US WWII M-1 helmet liner be identified through the frontal eyelet hole. Other correct WWII features include OD Green #3 cotton herringbone twill (HBT) cloth suspension liner, with the webbing in good shape. This HBT suspension is held tightly within the M-1 helmet liner by rivets and a series of triangular "A" washers. The three upper suspension bands are joined together with a shoe string. This way the wearer could adjust the fit. The sweatband is still present, showing moderate use and staining.

This is a lovely helmet and comes more than ready for further research and display.
