Original item: Only On Available. Typical of the mid nineteenth century, this is a very nice Kentucky or more correctly Pennsylvania style percussion Rifle. It is in about .61" bore, and now intended for "SHOT OR BALL", though it may have been rifled at some point in the past. The barrel measures 46 1/2", giving a total overall length of 61 1/2".
It is fully brass mounted in the English Trade style, and stocked fully to the muzzle. The forestock shows a couple of cracks, and the ramrod is unfortunately missing. The toe of the Butt Stock was knocked off and partly replaced, with butt plate adjusted to fit. The barrel has salt and pepper pitting overall from long time storage. The lock was at one time signed but is now unreadable.
Long and easy on the eye, making this most attractive for "over the fireplace". Internals worn with mainspring in place but without a good cleaning the rifle will not currently hold on half cock. Works on FULL COCK and has a fresh percussion nipple in place however SOLD FOR DECORATION ONLY.
